Estes Park Police
Department's
Citizens Police Academy
The Citizens Police Academy, established in 1997, was developed to
enhance the partnership between community members and the Estes Park Police
Department. Officers offer the Academy participants an excellent opportunity to
learn more about the daily operations of the police department and experience
conditions similar to the training they receive.
The ten-session academy curriculum includes instruction
in DUI Enforcement, Constitutional Law, Use of Force issues, Accident
Investigation, Communications Center, Crime prevention and more. Academy members can
ride along in a patrol car to experience first hand the activities police
officers are called upon to manage.
The Estes Park Police Department currently offers one Academy annually. There
is no cost, just an eagerness to learn about our police services. The
Academy will run from January 12- February 12, 2009 on Monday and Thursday nights from 6:00 pm -
9:00 pm. See the 2009
Curriculum.
