Derek Fortini, Museum Manager and Curator of Exhibits

Derek Fortini joined the Museum staff in December, 2006, has completed coursework for an M.A. in Art History with a Museum Studies emphasis at the University of Denver.  His work experience includes the Laboratory of Art & Ideas in Lakewood and the Denver Art Museum and he is the former Curator of Collections at the Estes Park Museum.  Derek develops, selects artifacts, designs, and produces exhibits in addition to overseeing all Museum operations. 

Alicia Mittelman, Curator of Education and Collections

Alicia Mittelman, who joined the staff in August, 2009, has an M.A. from the George Washington University, Washington, D.C. in Museum Education.  Alicia has worked at the National Museum of Natural History, the International Spy Museum, the Hillwood Estate Museum and Gardens, and the Education Department at  Rocky Mountain National Park. Her duties include programs, outreach, volunteer coordination, maintaining the Museum, Hydroplant, and Senior Center websites in addition to caring for the Museum collection and responding to research inquiries.

Elaine Hunt Downey, Museum Gift Shop Manager & Administrative Assistant

Elaine graduated from Sam Houston State University in 1974, majoring in Sociology and Psychology. She spent most of her career in retail management, with 15 of those years managing off-price clothing stores. She has also worked as an office manager and a supervisor with a telecommunications company. You may also find Elaine working at the Estes Park Convention and Visitors Bureau. Elaine has been visiting Estes Park for over 30 years. She and her daughter moved to Estes Park from Littleton in 2002.

 

The Museum also appreciates the help and support of all its volunteers.
